Diagnostic Marking for IELTS and Trinity B1

Or: feedback that doesn’t require us both being free at the same time

A live lesson spends a chunk of its time on things that don’t actually need two people present, you writing, me reading, both of us watching a clock. This is the alternative: you submit an essay or a recorded speaking task whenever it suits you, I mark it against the real exam criteria, and you get a video walkthrough back within 24 to 48 hours, no scheduling required.

What you actually get. Not line-by-line proofreading, that only tells you what’s wrong. I identify the two or three errors actually capping your score, explain why they’re happening (often a specific pattern from your first language, not random mistakes), and give you a concrete substitution to fix it. Everything’s recorded, so you keep the video and can watch it again before the real exam.

How it works

1. Submit. Upload a written Task 1/2 draft, or a voice recording for speaking tasks, using the form below, whenever you’re ready.

2. I mark it properly. Assessed against the actual IELTS Band Descriptors or Trinity GESE Grade 5 rubric, not a generic checklist. I’m looking for the handful of errors genuinely holding your band score down, not every minor slip.

3. You get a video back. A 5-10 minute screencast walking through your submission directly, with the correction and the reasoning behind it, delivered within 24-48 hours depending on your package.

4. You apply it and go again. A short drill to practise the specific fix, then submit your next piece to check it’s actually landed.

A few things worth knowing before you sign up

Recording a speaking task is just your phone or computer’s voice recorder, one to three minutes. You’ll upload it to Google Drive or Dropbox and paste the shareable link into the form below.

The difference between this and proofreading: proofreading fixes what’s wrong. This explains why it’s wrong, usually a specific pattern from your first language rather than a one-off slip, so you stop making the same mistake in different sentences.

You can mix writing and speaking on the Sprint and Full Programme tiers, whatever combination actually reflects where your score is weakest.
